Voltaire is a Brazilian paleontologist focused on early archosaurs and other permo-triassic tetrapod groups. During his PhD, he study the South American aetosaur taxonomy and ontogeny, conducting research at Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona (supported by a CAPES scholarship) and at Eberhard-Karls Universität Tübingen in Germany (with a DAAD scholarship). He was a Postdoctoral Lemann Harvard-Brazil Fellow, studying vertebrate diversity patterns across the Permo-Triassic extinction based on the Brazilian fossil record, a research topic he continues to work on in collaboration with the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro, the Federal University of Pampa in São Gabriel and the Stephanie Pierce Lab.
